The Ancient Realm is the cultivation realm above the Immortal Realm.

The potential of a cultivator in the Ancient Realm usually depends on the number of Soul Lamps one can create after ascending and the power gained depends on the number of Soul Lamps extinguished. To then progress further in their cultivation, Ancient Realm cultivators then have to extinguish each soul lamp with increasing difficulty with each successive lamp using their life force until they reach the great circle at which point they can attempt to step into the Dao Realm.

Only a cultivator of the True Immortal Realm can ascend to this realm.

Ancient Realm[]

The Ancient Realm, also known as the Ancient Soul, is a journey back to antiquity, where one traces the footsteps of ancestors, explores the Essence of all things, and seeks the origin of sentient beings in order to gain the qualification to enter the Dao Realm. It can be divided into Early, Mid, Late, and Great Perfection stages. Above the stage of Great Perfection, those who truly reach the pinnacle of the Ancient Realm possess the strength to rival those on the verge of Dao without having stepped onto the Dao, and can summon Dao Tribulation at any time.

Practitioners of the Ancient Realm possess their own Dao Fruit, which is the foundation of their future path, as the origin will blossom from the Dao Fruit; immortal power transforms into ancient essence, reaching a level of mastery in the application of the laws of heaven and earth. The foundation of all this lies in the strength of oneself at the moment of opening the Soul Lamp upon reaching the Ancient Realm. However, the more Soul Lamps one has, the harder it becomes to extinguish them.

Practitioners of the Ancient Realm cultivate Soul Lamps, absorbing the light of the ancient gates to condense their own Soul Lamps. Fire represents the soul, while the lamp represents the bloodline. Breaking through to the Ancient Realm allows one to ignite at least nine Soul Lamps. Soul Lamps act as avatars, capable of separate cultivation. Each extinguished lamp represents a test of life and death, and if all lamps are extinguished without dying, one still qualifies to enter the Dao Realm. The more Soul Lamps one has, the harder and more dangerous the breakthrough becomes, but once successful, one becomes stronger. When the lamps of the Ancient Realm are extinguished, there are seven stages of desolation, such as the Desolation of Delusion, Desolation of Fleshly Body, Desolation of Heart, Desolation of Soul, etc., each practitioner faces a different number of desolations.

In the Ancient Realm, there will be Ancient Gates, within which lies an ancient clock. Striking the ancient clock can ignite Soul Lamps; each strike ignites a corresponding number of lamps, usually one lamp per five immortal veins. There are two types of Ancient Realms: one based on cultivation and the other on the physical body. The gate of the cultivation-based Ancient Realm is gray, while the gate of the physical body-based Ancient Realm is crimson. There is a special type of Ancient Realm called the Anti-Ancient Realm, where the Soul Lamps go from extinguished to ignited.

Upon reaching the pinnacle of the Ancient Realm, if one extinguishes the last Soul Lamp but fails to successfully enter the Dao Realm, they are only half a step away from the Dao Realm. With their lifespan collapsing to only a few decades, they are considered Quasi-Dao Realm, possessing a certain origin of the Dao and able to replace the rules of heaven and earth with their own Dao.

For those who enter the Ancient Realm like the Allheaven Dao Immortal, they possess strength matching that of the Dao Realm in the Ancient Realm. To some extent, they can regard this kind of Ancient Realm as the Dao Realm, walking on a different path of cultivation. Not only can they comprehend the essence, but they can also achieve perfection in it. Having taken the Dao Realm as a transition, when the Ancient Realm reaches great perfection and the nine great origins are unified, it is the moment of entering the Daosource.

Stages in the Ancient Realm[]

Since every person has a different amount of Soul Lamps; each person at each stage of the Ancient Realm will have differences.

  • Early
  • Mid
  • Late
  • Peak

Special Realms[]

Seven Desolations[]

Every five soul lamps extinguished brings one Desolation.[1] Few people experience the Fourth Desolation, and even rarer is the Fifth Desolation. Some people only experience the Third Desolation The further along you get, the more dangerous they become.

  1. Desolation of Delusion [1]
  2. Desolation of Fleshly Body [2]
  3. Desolation of Heart [3]
  4. Desolation of Soul [4]

Soul Lamps[]

Soul Lamps are the objects that are cultivated during the Ancient Realm. After acquiring their Soul Lamps, they will start out lit. The cultivators will then have to work on extinguishing them.

Prime Lamp[]

Main Article: Prime Lamp

The Prime Lamp is what the very last Soul Lamp that a cultivator just stepping into the Ancient Realm will ignite — excluding the Paragon Lamp which is virtually impossible to ignite without the blood of a Paragon.[5]

Prime Lamp is different from the other Soul Lamps as it is also the most powerful one. It is colored blood red.[6]
